Halloween Transformation
From Morning Coffee to a Midnight Party
Are you looking forward to Halloween? It’s one of the few days when the usual dress code rules don’t apply. Do you want to dress up as a blood-soaked zombie or a sexy cat? Do you love classic masks and costumes or elaborate cosplay? Go for it!
But what if you don’t have time to create the perfect scar makeup or a latex costume? Or maybe you just want to enjoy Halloween without blood and spiderwebs on your face? Enjoy Halloween your way and transform yourself up to three times in a single day!
Quick Transformation – More Fun
ESSENS brings you tips on how to save time and have even more fun. Get ready for a themed makeup transformation throughout the day. Become the ultimate Halloween Queen. And the best part is, all you need is one makeup bag.
ESSENS TIP
If you’re going through all three phases, try to decide at the start of the day which midnight look you’ll choose. You can then better tailor your entire makeup look with the right shades and products.
Phase 1 – Office Magic Style
During the day at work or school, you can’t—or don’t want to—have a face full of scars and blood, but that doesn’t mean you have to blend in with the crowd on Halloween. The solution lies in a palette of fall colors and beautiful lips.
- Eyes: Fall and its colors have the same vibe as Halloween. So apply a light layer of cinnamon, brown, and gold eyeshadows to your eyelids. You can use the ESSENS 3-in-1 palette.
- Lips: During these magical days, have a little fun with your lip makeup. Use red, burgundy, or blackberry lipstick—perhaps ESSENS’ classic creamy formula—and just lightly dab it on with your fingers so your lips look like they’ve just been dipped in red wine or after tasting a fresh blackberry.
Phase 2 – Transformation into a Femme Fatale
It’s almost time to leave work, the last few minutes are ticking away, and you’re getting ready to head out with friends. You have at most 15 minutes now to get ready in the restroom or in the car. So no removing makeup—just layer it on, and it’ll be AMAZING!
- Eyes: Add a bolder black eyeliner to your eyes. And deepen the shade of your eyeshadow, depending on the midnight-themed look you’ve chosen.
- Lips: One thick layer of lipstick. Either a darker shade or the same color you wore during the day.
- Skin: The dim lighting in the bar is perfect for a brightening and glowing effect. Apply plenty of shimmery highlighter to your cheekbones. (If your midnight mask is Cold Vampire, skip the highlighter.)
Phase 3 – Midnight Triumph: Choose a Mask
The best is saved for last. The party is in full swing, and now you can dazzle everyone with a mask you can apply in the restroom in just a moment! And don’t forget—this makeup won’t be ruined by a smudged or smeared look; on the contrary, it will look intentionally mysterious and dramatic. Choose what you’ll transform into:
1) Which Witch?
Glam Witch:
- Use black eyeliner to draw a tiny crescent moon on your temple or above your eyebrow, along with a few dots resembling stars.
- Coat your lips with a shimmery lip gloss.
- Dust your décolletage with highlighter.
Nordic Witch:
- Apply at least 3 more generous coats of mascara to your lashes—and go ahead and blink on purpose. The goal is to smudge the wet mascara around your eyes.
- Grab a brush designed for this wild look and use dark eyeshadows (black, dark brown, dark gray) to create a dark, smudged, wide streak across your eyes from temple to temple.
- Then use the mascara wand to make a few bold strokes up and down around your eyes.
- Before the mascara dries, you can use your fingers or a cotton swab to apply gold or silver lines—using highlighter or shimmery lip gloss—to these smudges for a “moon mystery” effect.
2) Dia de los Muertos Skull
These iconic Mexican masks of life and death always make a big impression. They’re beautiful and seem complicated… but you’ll have this look down in no time and be the star of the show.
Here’s how:
- Start with a thick layer of bold lipstick.
- Feel free to use a lip liner, too.
- Create a very dark smoky eye look and define your eyes with eyeliner as you usually do.
- Then, using black eyeliner, start drawing the shape of a skull on your face however you like. You can find inspiration on your phone. This might take a little longer, but it’ll be worth it.
3) Cold Vampire Love
Romance in a gothic setting is a sure bet, and a mesmerizing gaze with a glass of red wine in hand is the perfect finishing touch for this timeless costume.
How to do it:
- Use the lightest or most translucent powder you can find. And use plenty of it!
- Draw black lines around your eyes and create a light or more intense smoky eye with dark eyeshadow.
- Red or burgundy lipstick—which can even be smudged in a few places for a smudged effect—will perfectly accentuate the vampire look.
